Credit Cards in Mexico

All customers renting a car must present an acceptable valid credit card at the time of rental. Signature on the back of the card must match with the signature in the contract.

We accept VISA, Master Card and American Express.

We do not accept debit cards for reservations however they can be used for payment when returning the vehicle. No location of National Car Rental accepts cash deposits as collateral, however cash deposits are accepted and will be applied towards rental fees.

When signing the contract you will be asked for a credit card to make a pre-authorization charge ranging from $ 5,000 pesos and up as collateral. The pre-authorization charge is variable and based on several factors including type of auto rented, number of rental days, charges at the end of the rental and insurance coverage accepted.

Deductible Protection (DP) can be purchased only with the purchase of the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) and Third Party Liability (TPL) insurance.
DP will reduce the CDW deductible to $0.

The percentage deductible is reduced to 0% only in case of accident. In case of theft, the deductible remains 10% even with the purchase of DP.

Important Note:
The Third Party Liability (TPL) is mandatory in all rentals NO EXCEPTIONS.

Prepaid Reservation PoliciesThe credit card used for prepayment must be physically presented when opening the lease and must have sufficient funds available to cover the pre-authorization required for contract signing. The credit card must be signed by the same cardholder whose name is on the contract itself, either as principal driver (direct contracting) or as additional driver of the rental unit.

• In case of cancellation you will be charged 10% of the reservation amount.
• In case of not making the reservation effective (No Show), canceling the same day will be charged 20% of the amount paid.
• Date changes may not be made on prepaid reservations.
• For pre-paid reservations through discounted rates, no changes or refunds apply.
• The refund of the amount to be reimbursed from the pre-payment will be made in a period of 15 to 25 business days, once the cancellation has been confirmed.

Reservation Policies on prepaid reservation made through travel agencies and/or Accredited Business Intermediaries of National Car Rental

It is not necessary to present the same credit card used for prepayment, as this was already done by the travel agency and/or accredited business intermediary, however the client still must present a personal credit card at contract opening. The travel agency and/or accredited business intermediary will pay the rental fee with the corporate credit card used for booking.

The direct customer (main driver) must always meet all the normal lease requirements at the time of contract opening. Additional or extra charges will be paid by the client at the time of contract issuance.

The prepayment charge will be invoiced when the travel agency and/or accredited business intermediary executive books the reservation through the Corporate Accounting department.

Official Identification

It requires a valid official identification, passport or driver licence's. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Driver's License

In order to rent a National Car Rental vehicle, a valid driver's license is required and must be shown at time of rental. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Additional Drivers

In all our offices there is a daily charge for each additional driver. The daily charge for each additional driver of $90 pesos plus taxes, depending upon the city. All additional drivers must meet the same requirements as the principal driver, must present a valid driver's license, be present with the principal driver and sign the rental contract.

Age Requirement

The minimum age to rent a car in Mexico is 25. All renters between 21 and 24 years of age must pay an additional daily charge of $90 pesos plus taxes, depending upon the city..

Car Seats

The daily charge is $90 pesos plus taxes, depending upon the city. Please ask for availability by calling toll free 1-877-567-3572 from the USA and 800-716-6625 from Mexico.

Airport Concession Fee

All offices at airports charge a fee that varies by city.

Vehicle License Fee
The charge for a vehicle license is a recovery fee referring to paperwork and vehicle taxes such as title, register, plates, and verification.

Drop Off Charge

All one-way rentals are subject to a drop off charge which varies by type of vehicle.

Mobile Device

The rental of the Mobile Device has a cost per day between $220 to $294 pesos plus taxes, depending on the location. The rental of said device is subject to availability, for confirmation it is necessary to call 800 716 6625 from Mexico or 1 877 567 3572 from the USA.

Chauffeur Service

The cost varies by city and may be requested by calling 800-716-6625 from Mexico or 1-877-567-3572 from the USA. Additional costs for chauffeur's travel expenses (meals and lodging) are not included in the hourly rate and will be covered directly by the customer. Chauffeur service is subject to availability.

USA Insurance

The cost for USA insurance is $10 USD daily plus taxes. It is only available in the cities of Tijuana, Monterrey, Hermosillo and Mexicali.

Fuel Policies

All vehicles are rented with a full tank of gas. Cars returned with less than a full tank will be charge a refueling service charge along with the cost of the fuel.

Refueling Service

This option allows a renter to pay for the full tank of gas at the time of rental and return the tank empty.

Late Charges

Every National Car Rental location calculates rates based on a 24 hour period from the time of rental. If a car is not returned on time a late charge will be applied.

Mechanical Problems and Accidents

Customer must report any accident to the competent authorities by dialing 066. Additionally, a report must be made to the National Car Rental branch from which vehicle was rented within 24 hours after the accident. An accident form must be completed.
